Kay Flores

Kaylyn Flores soccer ministry brought her two passions, Jesus and Soccer, together.  
"Though I was a Christian, I never felt comfortable just openly sharing the Gospel.  I have a shy personality. The only place I completely feel like myself is on the field. With that said, being a soccer player and being a Christian never merged. I was two different people on and off the field. 

It took me until my senior year in college to learn that i can use that very thing that i thought was a weakness (my shyness) to answer The Lord's call to spread the Gospel. I was given the opportunity to be trained in sports ministry, specifically soccer, and then sent back to my college soccer team and hometown to use that to further God's Kingdom. It has changed my life, and I wish i had known at an earlier age how I could use my passion of the sport to minister to others.”

Coach Kay holds a National D coaching license form USSF, completed the Chicago Eagles Summer Coaching Academy. Coach Kay currently holds the position of Board Chair for SCAC.

 

Chase Bishop

Coach Bishop has spent most of his professional life leading young soccer players to excel in high school sports at Life HS in Oak Cliff winning many accolades and helping his athletes reach college scholarships.”
Since 2019, Coach Chase joined South City as an assistant coach and has served as Head coach for our former 2013B team.
He currently serves as the head coach of the 2012B team participating in the RPL as well as Head Boys and Girls soccer coach at Life School Waxahachie. He currently serves as a Board Member of our club.

Becca Thrush

David Flores

David Flores had his first coaching experience in 2007 when he was 17 years old helping his high school coach kickstart, the middle school soccer team. After high school, David played college soccer for Richland College (Dallas, TX) where the team finished runner-up in the NJCAA national tournament. He later transferred to SAGU (Waxahachie, TX) where the team won the NCCAA Regional tournament and qualified for Nationals in 2011.
During that same summer, David and, then girlfriend, Kaylyn attended the Chicago Eagles Academy where they were introduced and training in sports ministry. Their time at the academy confirmed to them that they were called to use soccer as a tool to tell others about Jesus.
As one of the founders of South City Athletic Club,  David serves as Coaching Director. He also leads our mission trips to El Salvador and coaches several of our teams.
Now with 15 years of coaching experience, Coach David holds the National Youth License and the D License with United States Soccer Federation.  David earned his Bachelor’s Degree from SAGU and is a teacher in a local school district.

Cesar Espana

Cesar España’s love for coaching lies in building relationships with the kids and using soccer as a ministry tool. “Every child can be reached and transformed with the right tools,” he says, “and God is using me and soccer to touch other people’s lives.”
His expertise is at the Keeper position, which includes a collegiate playing career at SAGU (Waxahachie, Tx) and professional time with both the Dallas Sidekicks, and the El Salvadoran national team.  He also holds United States Soccer Federation (USSF) Goalkeeper licenses 1,2 and 3, and a strength and conditioning license.   Cesar currently holds a C license with the USSF.
Espana’s coaching experience includes time at both the select and collegiate level (NAIA D-1). Cesar graduated from SAGU with a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management and recently received his Masters of Business Administration. Coach España currently serves as the Associate Head Coach at SAGU and leads weekly Goalkeeper development with his own España Goalkeeper Academy in Waxahachie.
Coach Espana currently serves as the Head Coach for the 05 and 07 Boys as well as the Director of Operations for SCAC.

Angel Portillo

Coach Angel Portillo joins SCAC for the 23-24 season from Mansfield FC. Although young, Coach Angel has joins the club with exeptional experience having coached men and women semi pro teams under Revolution SC and Mansifield FC.

Aside from his leadership roles in both of his former clubs, Coach Portillo has coached several academy teams and helped grow the social media footprint of his former clubs.

Coach Angel will eager to use soccer as ministry and will take the role of Social Media Director and will help conduct training for coaches in El Salvador and Ecuador.

Jorge Jacquez

Coach Jorge Jacquez makes his return to SCAC for the 23-24 season after a couple years off.

Jacquez served as the Head Coach for our 2014 team in 2019 and took a break from coaching to focus on family and his military career. 

We are extremely blessed to have Coach Jacquez join the SCAC family as the 2017B head coach for the 23-24 season.

Joel Ramirez

Coach Joel aka Coach "Messi" joins us for his season with SCAC. Coach Joel currently pastors Le Hermosa church in Red Oak, TX. and has extensive experience playing and coaching children in the US and abroad through sports ministry camps.

April Web

Coach April Webb joined the club for the 22-23 season as a Co-Coach of the 12G team and helped the team accomplish the qualification to the Girls Classic League Division 1. Coach April is a former D1 player at Baylor University.

Alex Lutrick

Coach Alex Lutrick aka Coach Cotton Candy is a former SCAC player. His parents, Donny and Candee Lutrick, were an integral part in the inception and formation of SCAC as a non-profit ministry.

Although young, Coach Alex has several years of coaching experience leading camps with Coach Flores under SCAC and Soccer Little. Coach Alex has led the Running Program as a Head Coach for 2 seasons.

Coach Lutrick is a former ROSA XC, Track, and Soccer player and is currently the Head Coach for the Player Pathway Program in Red Oak, Texas. He currently holds his Grassroots training with the US Soccer Federation and is in the process of acquiring his D Soccer License.

Ethan Stewart

Coach Ethan is currently a student-athlete at SAGU in Waxahachie. He currently coaches our Player Pathway Program in partnership with Red Oak Soccer Association.

Aside from his full time academic and athletic duties, coach Ethan uses soccer as a tool for ministry along with his family in different mission trips.

Sergio Valegra

Coach Sergio is currently a student-athlete at SAGU in Waxahachie. He currently coaches our Player Pathway Program in partnership with Red Oak Soccer Association.

Mario Arroyave

Mario Arroyave is a cycling coach with over 8 years of experience, He has worked with 2 junior
level cycling teams in the past (Lazer Cycling team and the Slipstream Garmin development
team). He will serve as the first and founding cycling coach for SCAC.

Mario is one of the coaches on staff at the Williams Racing Academy
(www.williamsracingacademy.com). Mario has an extensive background in endurance sports,
having competed collegiately in cross country and track (Florida International University and
The University of North Texas).

He is a competitive cyclist in Texas racing for the Elevate
RacingTeam (https://www.facebook.com/ElevateRacing).Mario also holds a Master’s degree in
Sport Psychology from the University of North Texas. Mario currently lives in Waxahachie with
his wife (Christen) of 17 years and their 3 children (Annalise- 11, Cadel- 9 and Lynden- 6).

Reggie Jonaitis

Reggie is a highest category (category 1) USA Cycling competitive road racer, a two-time Texas
state champion, having competed across the United States and in Belgium. Reggie races
competitively for Elevate Racing, which is a USA Cycling domestic elite team.

Outside of cycling, Reggie has been involved in youth sports for over a decade, coaching various
youth sports in Illinois and in Texas. Reggie and his wife Kari live in Midlothian, TX with their
two children (Sofia – 12 and Jimmy – 11), both of whom have been involved with South City AC
since the age of 3.

He will serve as the first and founding cycling coach for SCAC.
